Rest Day

Friday's are rest days, so no running for me today.

My leg is feeling a little better, so I will be able to run tomorrow.....although I will have to get up pretty early (on a Saturday, yuck!) to do my run. I want to try to run 6 miles in the morning, but I have an ALR meeting on Saturday at 8:00 AM.

So, I guess I'm getting up around 6:00 or so to get my run in and be back in time to shower, get dressed and ride my motorcycle to IHOP for breakfast.

Oh, well......

OOohhh, the pain!!!

Ok, maybe I'm over reacting....I set out to run 4.5 miles this morning but I had to stop at 4 miles today because of pain in my left leg. I'm pretty sure it's shin splints, but whatever it is, it HURTS!

It was supposed to be a long slow run, so I started my run at 5:52 AM an maintained an average pace of 10:29 minute mile. I burned 785 calories! I did manage to keep my heart rate a bit lower during this morning's run.

Revamping my Blog - and a new PR!

I haven't done anything with this Blog in almost 2 years. I've been thinking about keeping a public record of my running and weight loss.

So, the natural progression would be to delete the old posts in my blog and start new. I know I won't post everyday, but I will certainly make an effort to post often.

Today was a good day to start my new Blog as I got a personal record in my morning 5K run today: 27:51. That's 8 seconds faster than my fastest time. (Author's note: Yes, I ran much faster when I was in the Marines in the late 80's and early 90's - but now I'm only counting records starting in January of 2007).

The path I ran is the usual 5K distance starting at my house. According to my Garmin 305, I started my run at 5:54 AM and burned 594 calories.
